We went "green" long before it was pc, and established our Ecology Club, which sponsored "Earth Week" instead of Earth Day. A bunch of us camped out on the school grounds for a week, cooked our own dinners, planted a thousand trees, cleaned a section of Englewood Dam where people had been dumping tires for years, presented a program to the school, and won an award from the Dayton City Council. Chaperones who camped with us included Mr. Demetriades, Miss Fritch, Mr. Booher, Mr. Brads, Mr. Denlinger, and Mrs. Rosser, so we were in good hands, at least until the chaperones fell asleep, lol!
