Robert Slack

R,I.P. Bob,

SLACK, Robert (Bob) Eugene, 70, of Springboro, Ohio passed away after a long and brave battle with chronic illness on May 3, 2022. Bob was born in Portsmouth, Ohio on February 24, 1952 and was raised near Dayton. He graduated from Northmont High School in 1971, completing the Auto Mechanic Trade Program. Bob was deeply in love with his wife of 27 years, Kim and loved his children, family, and abundance of friends. Joking until his final moments, Bob was always known for his sense of humor.

Bob was a truck driver and a Teamster car hauler for 34 years. He had the privilege of trucking throughout the country, and was known to be a master navigator. During his tenure as a Teamster, Bob was a founding member of the Teamster Motorcycle Association. He proudly served as a Steward of the Local 957 Teamsters Union.

Bob will be deeply missed by his wife, Kim, and by his children including sons, Robert D. (Jessica) Slack, Michael Slack; daughters, Stephanie (Chris) Tracy and Michelle (Chris) Koger. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Tony (Abby), Gavin, Hunter, Ava, Addison, Alena, Landon, and Ellie. Bob also leaves many siblings, Drew Smith, Doug (Debbie) Lowe, Becky (Tim) West, Diane (Tom) Sheeley, Tim (Terry) Slack, Eugene McCormick, Peggy Slack, Deb (Bob) Less, and Sandi Walterbusch. He also enjoyed the loving support of his mother-in-law and father-in-law, George and Barbara McCormick, who loved him as their own. He has left behind many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and too many friends to count.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Lilly Smith and Pearl Slack, as well as his brothers, John Smith, Jerry Walterbusch, Clint Smith, and Tim McCormick. Bob was also preceded in death by his sisters, Brenda Gatten, Barbara Lowe, and Lois Smith.

His family will be hosting a viewing from 12:30-2:30p.m. on Saturday, May 7 at Routsong Funeral Home located at 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, OH. Memorial service to be officiated by Rev. Michael Fitzpatrick at 2:30p.m. There will be a graveside interment service at Highland Cemetery in Miamisburg, to follow.

Friends and family are invited to return to Routsong Funeral Home in Kettering for refreshments in celebration of Bob’s life until 7:30p.m. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the cancer association.
